In order to measure the efficacy of the Wolbachia method in preventing dengue, the World Mosquito Program conducted a cluster randomized controlled trial (RCT) within a 26km2 area of Yogyakarta City, Indonesia. Areas that received WMP’s Wolbachia method over three years showed 77% fewer cases of dengue than areas receiving routine dengue control measures. Very substantial, and likely long-lasting, protection for people vulnerable to dengue.
